We build MySubtitles to enhance your viewing experience with dual subtitles and optional AI features (OCR/ASR/translation). We collect the minimum necessary data, give you control, and act transparently. You can manage your preferences at any time: Manage Consent.

Who we are

What we collect

  • Account data: email and user ID (authentication, favorites, Pro eligibility).
  • Preferences: subtitle style and language pairs; UI language; per-site enablement. Stored locally by default; optional sync later.
  • Support: messages you send to us and our replies.
  • Optional analytics (if you consent): anonymized, aggregate metrics. No cross-site tracking.

AI features & your data

AI modes may use on-device or cloud-assisted OCR/ASR/translation. We clearly label AI modes and request consent when needed.

  • On-device: When feasible, processing happens locally; raw media stays on your device.
  • Cloud-assisted (optional): If enabled, short snippets are securely processed and discarded after producing results. Not used for profiling or ads.
  • Retention: Cloud-assisted AI inputs are processed briefly and not kept longer than necessary.

Cookies & similar tech

We use essential cookies for auth and security. If you consent, we may use analytics cookies and ad-related cookies (e.g., via ad networks). You can change your choices any time: Manage Consent.

Advertising

We may show ads on the site (e.g., sidebar rails or a short interstitial). Pro removes ads. If we work with third-party ad networks (e.g., Google AdSense), their tags may use cookies or identifiers (IP, User-Agent) to serve and measure ads. Where required, we ask for consent and provide opt-outs.

Limited data may be shared with partners to deliver the service and cannot be used for their own purposes per contract. See Third-party partners for details.

Why we process data

  • Provide the service and keep it secure (auth, preferences, subtitle rendering).
  • Support and communications you initiate.
  • Improve features and performance (consented analytics).
  • Serve and measure ads on the site (if consented).
  • Legal obligations and abuse prevention.

Third-party partners

  • Hosting & database: the secure infrastructure running our website and APIs.
  • Email: support replies and account messages.
  • Ad networks (if enabled): e.g., Google AdSense for serving and measuring ads.
  • AI processors (if enabled): cloud providers used solely to return OCR/ASR/translation results.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share with service providers under data processing terms; they cannot use it for their own purposes.

International transfers

Data may be processed in the EU and elsewhere. Where needed, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., SCCs).

Your rights

Depending on your region, you may request access, correction, deletion, or portability, or object to processing. You can withdraw consent any time (e.g., disable ads/analytics/cloud AI). Contact: support@mysubtitles.app.

Regional notices

  • EU/UK: We obtain consent for analytics, advertising, and cloud AI. You can withdraw it any time.
  • California (CPRA): We do not “sell” personal information. If ad-network use qualifies as “sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising,” you may opt out by turning off Advertising in consent settings. Shortcut: Do Not Sell/Share.
  • Brazil (LGPD): Legal bases and rights are similar; reach out for data requests.

Retention & deletion

We retain data only as long as needed. For deletion requests, see Data Deletion.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy for new features (e.g., AI modes, ad networks). Significant changes will be posted here.
